SCIENCE GALLERY “EARTH WATER SKY” RESIDENCY BEGINS IN VENICE WITH UK ARTIST EMMA CRITCHLEY

June saw the beginning of the first Science Gallery “Earth Water Sky” Residency at Ca Foscari University Venice.

The laureate of the Science Gallery “Earth Water Sky” Residency, Emma Critchley, a UK artist known for her exceptional and imaginative artwork filmed and photographed underwater, came for a visit in Venice this June 2019. The artist met and worked with Professor Carlo Barbante a leading scientist of ICE MEMORY- an international heritage project to create a library of ice cores in Antarctica to protect these invaluable scientific records from melting as the climate becomes warmer.

Emma will return again from September 22nd until October 25th 2019 to complete her residency. Following this “immersion”, the artist will envision the creation of an artwork inspired by her dialogue with the Ice Memory team. This piece will be exhibited next year during the Venice Architectural Biennale.
